Antique Outboard Motor by LAUSON of New Holstein,

This old (believed 4 stroke) Outboard Motor by LAUSON of New Holstein, Wisconsin came from an estate sale about a year ago, and I never got around to trying it out. I found a website that discusses “Orphan Brands” like The Lauson Co (who manufactured outboard motors from 1940 to 1956) that have become collector’s items (http://www.duckworksmagazine.com/04/s/columns/max/21/index.html) , and another with Lauson history (http://www.discount-marine-parts.com/ob_lauson.html). I don’t see the Model # on it that would identify the HP and year it was made (as given by the second website), but I cleaned it up for Ebay and noticed what must be the serial # of 296 under the throttle control. That and the fact that it’s a rope wind and pull-to-start model as opposed to the recoil start shown on the later models, makes me think it was made closer to 1940 than 1956. With the possible exception of the tiller grip that looks like it could be an old bicycle grip, I think it’s totally complete and original including the paint, with the only flaw being the tiny chip near the brass prop that shows in the close-up photo. It does turn over easily with great compression and comes with a starter rope (not original). Please see my other listings for more rare and unusual items and collectibles;

Bendix 1937 Eclipse 2hp

Bendix 1937 Eclipse 2hp Outboard Motor Good Collectible
This is a 1937 Eclipse 2hp outboard motor. Made by the Bendix Marine Division, of the Bendix Aviation Corp. , South Bend, Indiana. This belongs to my neighbor. He has had it for 60 years or so. It has been setting in his shed for a long time. It is in very good overall condition and does turn over freely. I have not had it running. It will most likely need a carburator cleaning and possibly the gas tank. It starts manually with a pull rope and gets it’s spark from a coil powred by a 6v dry cell battery. The battery cables are still intact but are a bit frayed and may need replacing if you intend to run for other than display. It is in it’s original condition with the original name decal intact. This whole thing is aluminum construction. There has been a repair  made on the front as evident on the last 2 pictures. I don’t know the nature of the repair except that meybe there was a crack where the 2 pieces (the tank and the housing) come together and were bolted. Other than that it is a great little collectible motor that would look great with your others. This one would be an easy fix and would look great. No dents etc.

1948 2.3hp Martin 20

You are looking at a Vintage Martin 20 serial # A 5566  this motor is froze up and needs some recoil work, motor has some scratches on the cowling but no major dents,Because of the age I am selling this motor AS IS as a Non running motor,
The Martin 20 was a perfect little fishing motor. Robert Grubb, veteran outboard retailer and Test Editor of the Antique Outboard Motor Club, tried a tiny(1949)Martin 20 in 1984 and reported:
This is the slowest trolling motor I have yet tested. It went so slow that on one attempt to make time runs, the current in the river was going faster than the motor. Noise level at idle is also very impressive. It gets down to a very low level, more like the sound of a 4-cycle Lauson than any other 2-cycle I know of.
