このエンジンは、1929年に製造されたのですが、同じSuper ELTO Lightweight Model 360の写真があるのですが、どうもイグニッションがバッテリーと書いてあるのです。

1920年代の後半では、すでにROWBOAT MOTORは製造されていないはずなのですが、どうしてこの年代まで製造されたのが不思議です。
Original and complete Super ELTO Lightweight Model #309 opposed twin boat motor. Shows to have serial number #93142 and it is a motor built in 1929. A very light motor with an advertised weight of 38 pounds. I weighed it on a scale and I came up with about 45 pounds but it has some grease and such on it so it may make it a little heavier. The motor was purchased at an estate sale where it had been well stored inside. It has compression and no parts are stuck. We live in a semi-arid region of the rockies and there is not the corrosion problems seen in other parts of the USA. Overall it is in very good condition with no damage or cracks The only exception is for some minor dings in the side of the fuel tank. Have not attempted to start the motor and it will be sold as is. It would make a great restoration project. Overall measurements are about 38″ inches tall by 13″ inches wide at top. I prefer to have it picked up locally but will also gladly ship it to a new home. A special professional double wrapped packing charge of $50 for safe shipping will be added in addition to the UPS ground shipping cost. Ebay gives you a grand total in their calculator. Up for auction is a spectacular 1931 Super Elto Special Lightweight boat motor. Model 3600059 twin cylinder 3.5 hp with great compression and battery ignition. This motor can only be described as perfect in everyway. The gas tank has no dents and the operation instructions are flawless. The flywheel has been chromed and the brass prop does not even have a scratch on it. The lower unit shined-up like chrome (see photo). If there is a nicer Special Lightweight than this beauty anywhere, “I WANT TO SEE IT”. Because of its age, I am selling this motor for display only with no guarantee that it will run. I have not tried to start it myself. I will wire it back up for battery starting, only if the high bidder wants me to. I have had this motor in my own personal collection for over a year and did not want wires hanging all over the place.

A: I am sorry, but once I cosmetically restore a motor, I never try to start it for two reasons. One I do not want to risk all my work going down the drain from gas, oil, etc. Second I am not a mechanic, but a cosmetic restorer. Getting in to what you are talking about with the internal parts would make this 80 year old motor cost prohibitive. If my motors should run, that is great. If they don’t run, I am covered. I know of mechanically restored motors that locked up the first day they were tested. Old boat motors are what they are , old boat motors. My beautiful motors are for display for all to see. Also, this motor is way to beautiful for running.
Q: Is the paint a customization? Mar-14-10
A: Yes it is. The original color was aluminum gray. This color is similar to the one that was used on the Super Elto racing motors. If you follow my motors on ebay, I like my gas tanks to be anything but aluminum gray. Thanks Don
